Description
Celtis australis, known as the Nettle Tree, is used as an urban tree all over southern Europe for its durability and ability to thrive in areas subjected to reflected heat and light.
The Nettle Tree is also tolerant of salt air, so great on the coast but not as the first line of defence.
This pretty tree was introduced into the UK as early as the 16th century, Celtis australis forms a glossy rounded crown and has a shiny smooth trunk.
